√ The Crochet Dude - Carnation Bouquet Afghan Project

One of the nice things about being a "yarnie" is being able to participate in charitable causes that require the making of yarnie projects!! Sometimes they are eleborate other times, they are small quick and dirty projects that allow you a commercial break between your planned projects. The Crochet Dude gave opportunity for just that type of commercial break. He decided to design this crochet square and have as many people possible send him one so he can then stitch them together for an afghan to travel with him.

He then went one step further and decided to donate an afghan, in this same likeness to charity! The project is called CBAP or the "Carnation Bouquet Afghan Project" and it will only take you a few minutes to be part of something bigger. . . take a commercial break!

√ Hooking The Wool-eater Blanket Cal

√ I love to crochet. I love to work on my own designs. However, sometimes working on my own designs gets overwhelming, and yes staid, so I like to break up the monotony with other projects that keep me close to yarn and yet not struggling with math. There is something so great about working on a project that I can just follow directions for rather than design.

So, in light of that, last night I started the Wool Eater CAL 2014 going on at Sarah London's blog and on Ravelry. I decided that I had enough yarn in my stash that I could devote to this project along with some scrap yarn (which is going to make it interesting) that would also be appropriate so I started last night.

First, if you've never been to Sarah London's blog, please do go, her items are so vibrant and beautiful it will be worth the eye candy impact alone. However, she also has some really cool patterns and it's just a fun place to gather. The Wool eater blanket is one that really does eat up a lot of yarn! It's an amazingly fun pattern that I literally had to pull myself away from. . . now I'm concerned about my designing...

Here's a peek at what I started last night . . . I'm so excited about the possibilities! I'm not sure if this is going to stay in our home or be donated, but whatever the case, it's going to be amazing.

A few weeks ago Sara contacted me via convo at my Etsy Shop because she was having a bit of trouble with my hat pattern. I know sometimes the wording in a pattern can be confusing, which is why I always work on answering pattern questions quickly. Nothing like being in the middle of a pattern and not knowing what you did wrong or where to go from there. But I digress. . . I responded to her inquiry as soon as I could and told her not to worry, she'd surely get it done right.

Well, not that long afterwards I got another convo from her stating that she had indeed completed the hat and that her daughter loved it! Not only that, she improvised and added a strap with buttons to embellish the brim. She also let me know she was going to make a bunch more to sell at her daughter's school for a craft fair!

As you can see, she did an amazing job and it excites me to see her loving the pattern so much she wants to continue to work it over and over again!
